Hi, I’m Aleksey Nazarov from YouTube and Instagram. How can I help?
Based on what is shared publicly so far, a few key collaborations and encounters have shaped this sailing journey:
- Craigslist connection – “Lemon Drop”: Answering a stranger’s sailing ad led to sailing on Lemon Drop in the SF Bay, opening the door from dinghies to “real” cruising.
- Co-owning “The Smooch”: Sharing ownership with friends created a small community on the San Francisco Bay and deepened skills through regular local sailing.
- Meeting a surfer in Mexico – “Gizmo”: A chance encounter while surfing in Baja led to an invitation to help sail Gizmo, a 65-foot carbon-fiber performance catamaran, across the Pacific from Mexico to French Polynesia. This was the first true bluewater crossing and a huge step in the sailing story.
These experiences highlight a pattern: openly talking about a dream, saying yes to invitations, and collaborating with people met through everyday life rather than formal programs.
Is there a particular phase of the journey you want to dive deeper into, like The Smooch days or the Pacific crossing on Gizmo?
