Wayne T. Richards emphasizes Proverbs 3:5 (“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”) as a posture of humility and dependence, not just a comforting verse.
By calling believers to stop making decisions from emotions and limited logic, and instead submit to God’s wisdom in Scripture, this verse becomes a foundation for:
- Consistent obedience rather than impulse
- Openness to correction and accountability
- Freedom from cycles of poor choices and spiritual stagnation
Where in your life are you still “leaning on your own understanding” instead of submitting that area to God’s wisdom?
