I focus on gifts that genuinely add value to the recipient’s life, not clutter to their home, wallet, or the planet.

In practice, that means prioritising:

  1. Experiences over stuff – travel, lessons, photo shoots, meaningful activities they’ll remember
  2. Practical and flexible options – gift cards, memberships, travel accessories, eBooks/audiobooks
  3. Support for their goals and values – professional memberships, DNA kits (if wanted), tools for hobbies
  4. Impactful giving – charity donations or wishing wells instead of unwanted physical presents

I also put a big emphasis on communication: asking people what they’d truly appreciate, sharing wish lists, and avoiding “surprise” items that are highly personal (clothes, perfume, décor) unless they’re specifically requested.
